The Carriers of Black Gold and its Derivatives: Joint Research Project of LCC “Transoil” and “Transport” Analytical Magazine
The project was aimed at the description of trends in the railway transportation market of oil cargoes in 2008-2010 as the most promising segment of the Russian transportation industry, its competitive environment description as well as the market condition analysis.
To conduct the research, were used the following sources of information: the official statistics, monitoring results of the key indicators of operational activities of fuel and energy complex structures, corporate websites , as well as information received directly from the market participants of oil cargoes railway transportation market and industry experts.
The companies’ information was collected in three stages.
The 1st stage was a preparatory one. Based on the ratings of previous years, 2008 and 2009 statistics, operational statistics and media reports the list of the companies – potential rating participants was prepared. After pre-selection it remained 10+ companies.
On the 2nd stage the companies- rating candidates rating were surveyed. The key operational indicators for the last three years were requested.
Finally, on the 3rd stage the information gaps were closed using the Rosstat data and the rating participants’ reporting information.
As the key rating criteria were used two indicators: the volume of transported oil cargoes and the size of the fleet. The companies’ place in a rating was defined by ranging key criteria for the last three years. The full version of the project is available at the link here
